Make Me Normal

Trapped in my own little world,
Intertwined in a life of confusion,
Caught in the mist of rejection,
Cursed with an eternity of suffering.

Misunderstood, day in, day out;
No one saw it through my eyes,
Never felt it through my skin,
They did not even know it exists.

Pushed around where ever I go,
Misjudged by the Jury of the norm,
Injustified verdict inevitably passed,
Sentenced by those who are different.

New days arrise dawns of distress,
Continue to learn more of the curse,
The more I do, the more it hurts me,
Makes me feel I could had been more.

It would indeed be a wonderful life,
Wonderful to live life without a curse,
But I was born, and shall die with it,
I just wish you could Make Me Normal...

Poetry (c) Melee Kirby
Funny that - A Day after my Birthday and the first thing I submit is a sad piece of poetry =P But I dont want it to be neglected by others...

Last night I watched this documentary of the same name on Channel 4 (a UK TV network), and it explores the lives of a few teenaged kids who have autism, and they talk in their own words about what it's like living and growing up with the condition. Autism can be most easily described as a sub-mental illness; it is a condition of the brain that restricts it from functioning normal in certain ways. Autism can range from different types and different symptoms, and as a victim of the condition myself (I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome - try searching for more information on the 'net), I truely sympethized with those who were in the documentary - one of them who was a boy with Aspergers Syndrome himself.

Watching this documentary, I really felt for those who were in the documentary, as I know I myself am one of them - I am not among "the norm", as they call it. It was kind of upsetting watching the documentary, but it inspired me to write this piece of poetry nevertheless, so I hope you can read the finished product with an open mind...

I have Aspergers. But for what ever reason I actually don't want to be "normal" . Being just like everyone else sounds like a nightmare to me. If "normal" people won't except me because I'm different then this are not worth being with. Anyone who would shun someone because their different is shallow, petty, snobbish, elitist stuck up, jerk.

I have Aspergers bit I like to think that's not a bad thing.

Normal people are a mass of people with no creativity and courage to be different.
Screw the normal people, be yourself.

Normal.- An average amount of weirdness. So, among people with ASD, they're also normal, because they all have an average amount of weirdness.

I suffer from the condition to, so I know how you feel. I heard there were a group of people who saw autistic people as non-humans and wanted to castrate children with autism. I hope the group rots in hell. As mean as that sounds, I really do.

I too have aspergers syndrome. What I hate about it is that even if I show the littles sign of emotion, people autimatically assume I am getting an attitude. Then of course they say a lot of demorilizing things thinking they are putting me in my place. Then of course in my demoralized state I think "oh hey their older so they must be right." If anything I think they are the ones who are letting their emotions get teh best of them. Sorry to sound ranty.

Makes no difference, since the guy left DA 3 years ago. He doesn't even visit DA anymore.
